Description

Buccinid whelks for sale at a fish market in Japan.

  • Left : Ma-tsubu (Ma="legitimate" or "orthodox")(Neptunea polycostata Scarlato, 1952) for sashimi - 200yen per 100ｇ.
  • Middle : Tōdai-tsubu (Tōdai=lighthouse)(Buccinum inclytum Pilsbry, 1904) for boiling - 400yen per green basket, 700yen per red.
  • Right : Iso-tsubu (Iso=seashore)(Buccinum middendorffi Verkruzen, 1882) for boiling - 600yen per green basket, 900yen per blue.
