Summary
[edit]DescriptionWestminster School Playing Field - geograph.org.uk - 1449966.jpg |
English: Westminster School Playing Field. A view of the cricket pavilion on 437737, in Vincent Square, from beneath a plane tree on the east side. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westminster_School , Dean Vincent created {the fields} for the School by hiring a horse and plough to carve 10 acres (40,000 m2) out of the open Tothill Fields" (also "Tuttle" Fields). This was in 1810. An extremely detailed account of cricket here in the first half of the C20 is at https://homepages.westminster.org.uk/cricketarchive/webpage/temp/Westminster%20Cricket%201900-1950.htm . |
