Westerlund 1

Summary[edit]

Description
English: This image captures the vibrant and intense activity within the Westerlund 1 star cluster, one of the most massive young star clusters in the Milky Way galaxy. The data for this breathtaking view was obtained through the NIRCam of the JWST. Distinctive features include numerous bright stars and intricate nebular structures, illuminated by the high-energy radiation from the cluster's massive stars. Image processing by Daniel Capela, based on data from the proposal led by Gennaro et al. 2021. Credit: ESA/NASA/CSA/D.Capela - https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2021jwst.prop.1905G/abstract
