Summary
[edit]DescriptionWellington Wood. - geograph.org.uk - 146389.jpg |
English: Wellington Wood. View north across steadily rising fields to part of the Dinmore forestry complex. Wellington Wood is unusual in having few paths, of any kind and was extensively quarried for sandstone. It is a very fine orienteering forest, used by 3000 competitors in one event in 1994, but English access laws make it almost impossible to use now. It has several owners and getting a unified permission is very hard. More importantly, being a big block of old oak wood it is of economic (house building) and wildlife importance. |
