Historic entrance to Electrical Engineering Building at Gdańsk University of Technology

Summary[edit]

Description
English: The most decorative element of the Electrical Engineering Building is its portal. A stone staircase leads to it, and the entrance is crowned with an arch, above which an elliptical window is placed in the decorative cartouche. On its sides you can see two identical sculptures depicting two snakes braided together in a spiral arrangement, encountered, for example, on banners from Roman times. Their heads are placed on the sides and are directed towards the building. Between them there is an element shaped like a light bulb. Above the snakes are two obelisks, symbolizing the temple of science. Between them is the most impressive element of this entrance - a dragon with a gaping mouth as a symbol of the powerful untamed power of electricity. A fan of lightning fires from under the dragon.
