English: Wayang Diponegoro
The dolls in this set were made by Suprato Amosutijo in 1979. The curator Pienke Kal purchased the set, along with the Wayang Perjuangan dolls depicting the battle from 1940-1949. This exceptional wayang form tells the story of Prince Diponegoro and the Java War. The character and characters of these dolls can be seen on the face and body and follows the classic Javanese visual language. The Javanese are noble slender figures with refined faces and the Dutch characters are coarse and rude because of their big round eyes, big noses and mouth and the beards and wild hair. The dolls are all provided with a horn gapit (the central stick) and a horn stick on each hand. The horn sticks are more expensive than the bamboo or wooden sticks. The Wayang Diponegoro is the name for a set of wayang puppets in the Sonobudoyo museum in Yogyakarta. The set consists of 42 dolls. It was created in 1985 by R.M. Kuswadji K.S. from Yogyakarta and looks like a copy of the dolls from the set 4551 of the Tropenmuseum. It is a set of dolls that has been ordered, or it is a set of dolls from a larger set that was used to enact the Babad Jawa, the history of Java. The Babad Jawa tells the history of Java, from the arrival of Islam in the 16th century to the Java War in the 19th century. The wayang form used to depict this is called the Wayang Jawa. Originally made in Surakarta to immortalize the heroes of Javanese history. Some sets can depict the stories from the different periods with puppets, other sets, such as this set, have puppets that tell one particular episode and each puppet represents a certain character. De poppen in deze set zijn gemaakt door Suprato Amosutijo in 1979. De conservator Pienke Kal heeft de set aangekocht, samen met de poppen van de Wayang Perjuangan die de strijd uit de periode 1940 – 1949 verbeelden. Deze uitzonderlijke wajangvorm vertelt de geschiedenis van Prins Diponegoro en de Java-oorlog. Het karakter en de personages van deze poppen zijn af te lezen aan gezicht en lichaam en volgt de klassieke Javaanse beeldtaal. De Javanen zijn edele slanke figuren met verfijnde gezichten en de Nederlandse personages zijn grof en lomp door hun grote bolle ogen, grote neuzen en mond en de baarden en wilde haren. De poppen zijn allen voorzien van een hoornen gapit (de centrale stok) en een hoornen stokje aan iedere hand. De hoornen stokken zijn duurder dan de bamboe of houten stokken. De Wayang Diponegoro is de naam voor een set van wajangpoppen in het museum Sonobudoyo in Yogyakarta. De set bestaat uit 42 poppen. Het is in 1985 gemaakt door R.M. Kuswadji K.S. uit Yogyakarta en lijkt een kopie van de poppen uit de set 4551 van het Tropenmuseum. Het is een set poppen, dat besteld is, of het is een set poppen uit een groter geheel dat gebruikt werd om de Babad Jawa, de geschiedenis van Java op te voeren.
