Summary[edit]
DescriptionWarton glass 6.jpg |
English: The east window of the vestry, known as the Millennium window, of St Oswald's Church, Warton, Carnforth, Lancashire. It was produced by Ann Sotheran of York. It includes at the bottom of the left light the coat of arms of the Washington family and of Matthew Hutton (1529–1606), Archbishop of York from 1595 to 1606, the son of Matthew Hutton of Priest Hutton, in the parish of Warton, Lancashire (arms of See of York impaling Gules, on a fess argent between three cushions of the second tasselled or three fleurs-de-lys sable, as seen here; blazoned otherwise Gules, on a fesse or between three cushions ermine tasselled of the second three fleur-de-lys of the field). A figure, presumably Hutton, holds a parchment on which are drawn architect's plans of the church, signifying that the figure was the donor or commissioner of the church building. |
