Object history
English: Granted 7 November 1961 to the former Amt Borgeln-Schwefe and 31 March 1970 to the municipality of Welver, which was newly built in 1969, in legal succession.
The arms combine elements of two medieval families that played a role in the history of the municipality. The dog is taken from the arms of the Lords of Rüdenberg. The sinister part is taken from the arms of the Lords of Soest, who acquired the castle in Welver in the late 13th century.
