Object history

Die Bedeutung der Wasserstraße für den Ort kommt im Wellenschildfuß des Wappens zum Ausdruck.

Bestimmende Figur des Wappens ist jedoch die Holländerwindmühle. Schon seit dem Mittelalter sind in Banzkow Mühlen nachweisbar, von denen bisweilen mehrere gleichzeitig und unmittelbar nebeneinander existierten. Noch heute wird das Bild des Dorfes von der weithin sichtbaren Mühle geprägt, die sich zu dem Wahrzeichen Banzkows entwickelt hat. Beidseitig wird die Mühle im Wappen von einem Lindenblatt begleitet, die den Ortsteil Mirow symbolisieren. Die Figuren der Lindenblätter wurden gewählt, da das Bild des Dorfes Mirow durch die lindengesäumte Ortsdurchfahrtsstraße geprägt wird, die zudem den Namen "Unter den Linden" trägt.
