Description
English: Photo taken on 8 May 2019 at Lofoten War Memorial Museum (Lofoten Krigsminnemuseum) in Svolvær, Norway. The museum exhibits uniforms, militaria, memorabilia, smaller items, etc. from World War II and German-occupied Norway 1940–1945:
  • Mannequin dressed in a WWII summer field dress uniform of the Soviet Red Army (RKKA):
    • Russian steel helmet: SSh-39 or SSh-40
    • Gymnastyorka (Гимнастёрка, gimnasterka, gymnastiorka, gymnasterka, gimnastyorka) field blouse/pullover tunic/smock jacket
    • Excellent Sniper Badge (Знак Отличный снайпер) created 1942
    • PPSh-41 Soviet submachine gun (Пистолет-пулемёт Шпагина, pistolet-pulemyot Shpagina, nicknamed папаш ,papasha) with ammunition pouches in waist-belt
:The uniforms and equipment of the RKKA during the Great Patriotic War (GPW/WW2) can be described as simple, yet comfortable and practical. The basic uniform consists of a wedge cap (side cap, garrison cap), pilotka with a Red Star cockade, a pullover tunic, gymnastiorka, a pair of breeches, sharovari, and lastly, jackboots, sapogi, or ammo boots (ankle boots) worn with puttees (legwraps), botinki c obmotki. Telogreika (vatnik, fufaika) jackets and pants, warm, quilted, padded cotton winter outwear, became part of the Soviet Red Army winter uniform during the German-Soviet War (WW2).
