| Description |
English: Aboard the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA-31), a crewman strains on a refueling hose preparing to refuel aircraft, during operations in the South China Sea, March 1967. The aircraft are three Vought F-8C Crusader (BuNo 146960 in front) of Fighter Squadron 24 (VF-24) "Red Checkertails". Note the lack of markings on the tails of the first two Crusdaders, these probably being replacement aircraft. VF-24 was assigned to Attack Carrier Air Wing 21 (CVW-21) aboard the Bon Homme Richard for a deployment to Vietnam from 26 January to 25 August 1967. |
