Description The Honorable Katherine Hammack, Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy & Environment, visited the construction site for the EPA Membrane Bioreactor at Fort Riley, Kan., on March 27, 2014. This is a pilot assessment project to reduce potable water use on Fort Riley and potentially Army-wide. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is working in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency, Fort Riley Net Zero Water Stakeholders and the Department of Public Works. EPA will be working with Kansas State University for research related to treatment efficiency and quality assurance using the membrane bioreactor unit. Zieson Construction Company is the contractor on this $300,000 project. Photo by Michael Marish.
