Description
English: Sjunkhatten National Park (Dávga suoddjimpárkka) is located in the municipalities of Bodø, Fauske and Sørfold, Nordland, and is the 33th national park on the mainland in Norway. The national park comprises an area of ​​approximately 417.5 km2 where about 39.8 km2 is sea area. It is centrally located to

There are varied opportunities for outdoor activities, and great nature experiences on the sea, on foot and on skis. The area also has a rich cultural history.

Large and wilderness-rich nature area. The area has large and varied landscape qualities of high national value. There are several rare plant and animal species in the national park. The area has a very high cave density and stands out as one of the most important cave areas in Norway. Protection will also ensure the Sami natural foundation.

The area has scattered sites that are valuable and interesting for the conservation of biodiversity. Seven natural habitats are registered, most of which are natural habitats in forests. There are mapped 15 red list species in the area. This includes ten bird species, one mammal species, one lichen and three mushrooms. Sjunkhatten has an important value for wetland birds, especially the areas at Sætervatnet and Vassvikheian-Færøyvatnet.
