Comparatif de mai 2012 www.flickr.com/photos/urbexplo/7207361384 L'hôtel Rasco était considéré lors de son inauguration comme étant l'établissement du genre le plus luxueux au pays. Même s'il a changé de vocation depuis, le bâtiment présente encore quelques caractéristiques intéressantes, dont ces lucarnes attachées, alternative au toit mansardé (toujours interdit à cette époque par la réglementation visant à prévenir les incendies), qui permettent de rendre les combles habitables et confortables. Cette forme de toiture se répandra dans l'architecture commerciale néoclassique au cours des années 1840. Autre élément original, les murs coupe-feu qui se prolongent jusqu'au sol, en saillie par rapport au mur de façade. L'auteur britannique Charles Dickens (1812-1870) compte parmi les hôtes les plus illustres de l'hôtel Rasco. Autre vue www.flickr.com/photos/urbexplo/7171660476 Au centre de la photo on voit l'ancien Quebec Hotel. Ce témoin de l'histoire ainsi que son voisin à droite furent démolis pour le passage du tunnel Gosford. L'infrastructure du tunnel fut démantelée à son tour et un nouveau bâtiment occupe l'espace de l'ancien Quebec Hotel depuis.
