Description
Deutsch: Das 1888 errichtete magnetische Variationshaus gehörte zum Geomagnetischen Observatorium Potsdam, das der Geophysiker Adolf Schmit 1902 bis 1928 leitete. Beim Bau wurde auf eisenhaltige Baustoffe wie Nägel, Ziegelsteine und Zement verzichtet. Die Sandsteinblöcke (Wefenslebener Sandstein) greifen ineinander. Bindemittel ist Rüdersdorfer Kalk. Heute wird hier im Wissenschaftspark Albert Einstein der Paläomagnetismus untersucht.
