Summary[edit]

Description
English: Vaporate was a commercial film preservation system applied to movie film. The leader of a film was embossed with the Vaporate name to distinguish it and a certificate of authenticity was included in the film can. The process possibly turned the edges of the film yellow. Although I've only seen one example of a Vaporate treated film, so nothing is conclusive. The Vaporate process seemed to work as this film did not exhibit any symptoms of vinegar syndrome. The film stock code Kodak used on this film was for 1932 or 1952, but the film probably dated from 1932. (Kodak used the same date codes for multiple years usually separated by 2 decades.) Examples shown are from the D.D. Teoli Jr. Small Gauge Film Archive.
