English: Vanessa indica, Indian Red Admiral, is a butterfly found in the higher altitude regions of India. Males commonly imbibe mineralised moisture from damp ground, and also visit dung or decomposing fallen fruit. Females are more commonly observed when nectaring, and favour taller flowers. Español: Vanessa indica es una mariposa de la familia de los ninfálidos (Nymphalidae) que habita las regiones de mayor altitud de India. Los machos suelen embeber el liquido mineralizado del suelo húmedo, y también visitan estiércoles o frutos caídos en descomposición. Las hembras favorecen el nectar de flores grandes. |
