English: Image extracted from the Georges-Calonghi - Dizionario della lingua latina - Latino-Italiano, 1896, by Karl Ernst Georges and Ferruccio Calonghi, depicting the w:Roman numeral V (5), repeted two times. According to Georges, this is the origin of the symbol X as the Roman numeral for 10 (V+V, or 5+5). Extracted and cut out from the djvu file of the dictionary, page 2885.
