Description Christy Leonard (left), geologist for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, looks for a buried gas line in a freshly dug 'pothole' near an American River levee Jan. 15, 2013 in north Sacramento, Calif. Potholing is a procedure used to verify and document the location of buried utilities like water or gas lines to determine if they are in the way of upcoming levee construction.
