The father established a store which was afterward merged into thecooperative store, of which he was superintendent for a number of years. He also didtemple work in Manti Temple and for fourteen years was superintendent of the Sundayschool. He was likewise a member of the High Priests Quorum and at the present timehe is living retired at the age of eighty-two years. Notwithstanding his advanced age,he is one of the greatest baseball enthusiasts of Moroni and goes with the boys to allthe surrounding towns to witness games except on Sunday. Jabez Faux acquired a common school education at Moroni and afterward spenta year as a student in the Snow Academy. He then turned his attention to clerking andfor eight years was thus employed in the cooperative store. In 1896 he went to thesouthern states on a mission as traveling elder and was absent from Utah for twenty-nine months. In 1899 he opened a store conducted under the name of Faux & Companyand later incorporated the Consolidated Mercantile Company, of which be is the man-ager. Under his wise guidance the business bas grown to substantial proportions andthe enterprise is now one of the profitable commercial concerns of the city.
