He is a fair and honest politician. While residing at Hyrum City he filled various local offices, including those ofmayor, justice, attorney, surveyor and school trustee, and he also served as commis-sioner, surveyor and attorney of Cache county. Still more important political officeswere conferred upon him, for in 1882, in 1887 and again in 1895 he was a memberof the constitutional convention of the territory of Utah. In 1897 he was elected torepresent his district in the legislature and was made chairman of the committee onappropriations.
