He afterward opened anofBce in Ogden and he was also appointed manager of the Utah Light & Traction Com-pany, which position he occupied for four years, being with that company when it wastaken over by the Bond & Share Company of New York city and was renamed the UtahLight & Traction Company. Mr. Whitaker then again took up architectural work anddesigned and built the Eccles building, in which he was associated with Leslie Hodg-son. It was Mr. Whitaker and H. L. A. Culmer who headed the exploration expeditionthat explored San Juan county and made the measurements and collected the data con-cerning the county, taking and painting many photographic views and furnishing forpublication the first authentic data of the great natural bridges.
