Summary
[edit]| Description |
English: Bridge crossing the Spree river in Berlin, built for the street-level inner-city connecting railway ("de:Berlin Verbindungsbahn") linking the main railway terminal stations in Berlin. This wrought-iron bridge was built 1864/65 to replace the original wooden bridge built in 1851, which was actually located 70 meters upstream. The railway traffic ended after the en:Berlin Ringbahn replaced the "Verbindungsbahn" in 1871. The bridge pictured here proved to be unstable and was demolished in 1884 and demolished in 1887. Its place took the en:Moltke Bridge, built from 1886 until 1891, and which still stands today.
