Description
English: PACIFIC OCEAN (June 25, 2008) Flight Deck Gunner Chief Warrant Officer Eric Richmond, left, and Aviation Ordanceman 3rd Christopher Wozniak connect hoisting slings to an MH-60S Seahawk from the "Eightballers" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 8 on the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) during an ammunition on load between Stennis and the Military Sealift Command dry cargo-ammunition ship USNS Alan B. Shepard (T-AKE 3). The slings are used to attach ordnance crates to helicopters for transport during replenishments-at-sea. Stennis is receiving ammunition in preparation for deployment in early 2009. Stennis is transiting from San Diego to her homeport of Bremerton, Wash., following a rigorous two-month work-up period.
