English: GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba (July 6, 2007) - Capt. Bruce C. Meneley, center, relieves Capt. Ronald L. Sollock, left, as commander of U.S. Naval Hospital and Joint Task Force (JTF) Guantanamo Bay Joint Medical Group during a change of command ceremony at the Bayview Club. Deputy Commander, Navy Medicine East, Rear Adm. Donald Gintzig presided over the ceremony. JTF-Guantanamo conducts safe and humane care and custody of detained enemy combatants. The JTF conducts interrogation operations to collect strategic intelligence in support of the global war on terrorism and supports law enforcement and war crimes investigations. In April 2024, Capt. Meneley would be killed by Seattle police during an attempted arrest in a Tukwila, Washington hotel. He had allegedly planned to meet two young girls, age 7 and 11, but the meeting was an Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force sting operation.[1] |
