Jaime Barrata, a general medical officer assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1), checks a Batu-Batu native for a possible upper respiratory infection. The young boy was one of more than 1,300 patients treated by Expeditionary Strike Group One (ESG-1) medical personnel in the small village of Batu-Batu in the southern Philippine island of Tawi Tawi. ESG-1 teamed with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and civilian relief organizations to provide medical, dental and engineering assistance to the area.
