English: Gonaives, Haiti (Mar. 10, 2005) - Chief Journalist Dave Fliesen assigned to Fleet Combat Camera, Atlantic, videotapes the construction project at Ecole N.D. de la Nativite, in Gonaives, Haiti. Chief Fliesen turned the viewing screen around on his video camera so that children from the school could see what he was photographing. The Seabees assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1), are constructing a new school building near the site of the original school, which was damaged in the flooding following the hurricanes of 2004. NMCB-1 is part of the New Horizon Task Force, which is deployed to Haiti for three months to conduct humanitarian construction and medical assistance. The construction projects include building three schoolhouses, and drilling three potable water wells. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 2nd Class Roger S. Duncan (RELEASED) |
