Description
English: Naval Air Station, North Island (April 30, 2004) - Air Traffic Controller 2nd Class Jimmy Nelson, of Kalamazoo, Mich., manages multiple aircraft approaches during a busy day in the air traffic control tower. NAS North Island and Naval Outlying Landing Field work together to manage the air space above San Diego, Calif., for both military and civilian aircraft. Naval air traffic controllers perform duties similar to their civilian counterparts, and play a key role in the effective directing and managing of military air traffic throughout the world.
