Description
English: San Diego, Calif. (Apr. 14, 2004) - The memorial for USS San Diego (CL 53) nears completion on San Diego's waterfront. The contemporary granite sculpture will honor the World War II-era light cruiser and her crew. San Diego amassed 18 battle stars and steamed more than 300,000 miles without any loss of life during the battle for the Pacific. U.S. Navy photo by Geoffrey Patrick. (RELEASED)
