Description
English: Arabian Gulf (Mar. 20, 2003) – Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Jason Kerce performs maintenance on the MOVLAS(Manually Operated Visual Landing Aid System) in front of the Fresnel Lens system aboard the aircraft carrier USS Constellation (CV 64). The Fresnel Lens system aids pilots in landing aircraft at sea using a system of lights, which provides a visual reference for pilots on approach. The MOVLAS presents glideslope information as determined by the observing Landing Signal Officer(LSO.) Constellation is currently on a scheduled deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
