English: The Mediterranean Sea (Mar. 20, 2003) -- Surrounded by media, Rear Admiral John D. Stufflebeem, Commander Task Force 60, addresses the crew of USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) from the bridge with the following message: "This is not a war of retribution or revenge ... This is not a war on the Iraqi people ... This is war in defense of the United States from a dictator with weapons of mass destruction." The Admiral addressed the crew shortly after news that the United States had officially commenced combat operations in Iraq.
