Description
English: The Mediterranean Sea (Mar. 20, 2003) -- Surrounded by media, Rear Admiral John D. Stufflebeem, Commander Task Force 60, addresses the crew of USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) from the bridge with the following message: "This is not a war of retribution or revenge ... This is not a war on the Iraqi people ... This is war in defense of the United States from a dictator with weapons of mass destruction." The Admiral addressed the crew shortly after news that the United States had officially commenced combat operations in Iraq. Truman is currently deployed and conducting missions in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. U.S. Navy photo by Photographer's Mate 1st Class Michael W. Pendergrass. (RELEASED)
