Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Northbound U.S. Route 301 as it approaches a bridge over the Nottoway River in Sussex County, Virginia. The bridge is a 1928-built pony truss bridge that is often seen from Interstate 95, which has relieved traffic on US 301 in the county considerably since the 1970's, thus reducing traffic using this bridge primarily to local residents. Despite this lighter use, the bridge has always been rated as being in poor condition in recent years and was finally torn down in November 2016, roughly two years after this picture was taken.
