English: The U.S. Navy light cruiser USS Philadelphia (CL-41) and two British destroyers underway in the Atlantic Ocean on 14 July 1945. Philadelphia was on a voyage to Antwerp, Belgium from 7 to 15 July, acting as escort for the heavy cruiser USS Augusta (CA-31) which had embarked U.S. President Harry S. Truman and his party, including Secretary of State James F. Byrnes and Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy. |
