USSR 1941-02-14 registered censored cover Moscow-Leipzig

Summary[edit]

Description
English: USSR 1941-02-14 registered censored cover Moscow-Leipzig. Rare red 'Zollstück' label affixed: The letter was removed from the normal mail procedure because it was suspected of something that might violate foreign exchange law. The letter was marked with this red label and presented to the nearest customs authority in the Third Reich. There the letter was opened and an inspection took place, documented by the red stamp. Sealed with censor tape and because nothing objectionable was found, the letter was delivered to the recipient as normal. If there were any complaints, the recipient had to collect the letter from the local customs authority and pay for any customs duties or fines. Only a few letters with this label are known.
