Summary[edit]
DescriptionUSCGC Arbutus moored at Staten Island.jpg |
English: NEW YORK– Coast Guard Cutter Arbutus moored at the former Coast Guard Base at St. George, Staten Island, N.Y., circa 1965. The tender Arbutus -- the third cutter to bear this name -- entered service in 1933 and was assigned to the 2nd Lighthouse District. During World War II, the Arbutus was based out of Woods Hole, Mass., and given the hull number and designation WAGL-203. The cutter’s crew tended submarine nets at Newport, R.I., in February, 1943. In 1945, the vessel was transferred to Staten Island. The Arbutus was decommissioned in 1967. U.S. Coast Guard photo. |
