Summary

[edit]
Description This photo was taken in Lancaster County, Nebraska. The soil is formed in thick deposits of loess on a 3% slope. The site is vegetated by native tall grass species and believed never cultivated. A silt loam mollic epipedon overlies a silty clay loam argillic horizon at 50 cm. Many fine and very fine roots, common to native prairie grasses are evident throughout the mollic epipedon. Almost all of these soils are cultivated for grain crops.
