Title
English: Two women seated next to piano in Esther Duffy's house
Description
English: On verso of image: "Esther Duffy's house. Piano Billy Chappell bought for her. Esther broke, piano sold to Bob Wallace for $1000 for his house at the forks. Piano brought into the country by Mrs. P [illeg.]." The pride of Esther Duffy's establishment was not Irene (right), but the piano (center), the gift of an admirer. When Esther went broke she sold the piano for one thousand dollars to Babe Wallace who hired Wilson Mizener (he claimed) to play it in a nightery called The Forks. (Murray Morgan, One Man's Gold Rush, p. 160)
