English: This very large Leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) was harpooned in 1938 by the fishing boat Izu out of San Pedro harbor off Point Fermin. A model mold after the animal was stored at the former Cabrillo Beach bathhouse, first home of the Cabrillo Marine Museum (closed in 1981) and is now displayed at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium [1].
