1) La espora se desencadena en presencia de un estímulo ( los desencadenantes in vivo siguen siendo en gran medida desconocidos; los desencadenantes in vitro se describen en Métodos ).
2) La cocción de PT se inicia en la parte más delgada de la capa de esporas, donde se localiza el disco de anclaje.
3) Después del inicio de la activación del PT y durante la Fase I (alargamiento del PT), los núcleos y presumiblemente otros orgánulos se reorientan.
4) En la etapa en la que el PT se extiende hasta poco más del 50%, los núcleos se deforman para encajar en el PT y salir de la espora.
5) Los núcleos (y probablemente otras cargas) se trasladan a través del PT, a una velocidad comparable a la de la extensión del PT.

6) Los núcleos salen del PT y recuperan una forma circular en la punta del PT.
