Summary[edit]
DescriptionTroop Train Crossing Modder River, Boer War (1899).jpg |
English: Troop train crossing the Modder River (1899) - a frame from the British Pathe collection. The embankment to the right of the picture was probably the approach to the bridge before it was destroyed by the retreating Boer forces on 28 November 1899. The British Army engineers built the pontoon bridge which the train in the picture is using as a temporary replacement.
