Deutsch: Grabaltar des Kurfürsten Franz Georg von Schönborn im Trierer Dom, nach einem Entwurf von Johannes Seitz in den Jahren 1757 bis 1759 von Ferdinand Tietz und seinem Schwager Johann Wenzel Grauer mit Skulpturen aus Alabasterstein als „Auferstehungsaltar“ geschaffen. Das Bild zeigt links den Kurfürsten, müde hingesunken, und rechts Kaiserin Helena (?), die Mutter Konstantins des Großen, auf dessen Veranlassung der Dom gebaut wurde. Helena fand der Überlieferung zufolge auf einer Pilgerreise Jesu Kreuz. Über den beiden Figuren schwebt der auferstandene Christus. Nach anderer Auslegung ist die Figur rechts eine Allegorie des Glaubens. |
