bs with alternate unequally pinnate leaves,prickly spines, flowers in drooping axillary racemes, and fl.atdehiscent pods, winged on one edge. Flowers white 1. R. Pseudacacia, Flowers rose colored 2. R. Xeo Mexicana. 1. Robinia pseudceacia L. Locust. A rather large, slen-der tree 70^-80^ high with ascending branches, and deeplyfurrowed, reddish brown bark. Leaves unequally pinnate,leaflets 7-19. Flowers in loose racemes, white with a yellowspot on the standard, fragrant. Fruit a dehiscent, slightlycurved, reddish brown, flat pod. An eastern tree introduced into our area. 2. Robinia Neo Mexicana Gray. New Mexico Locust. Asmall tree or shrub 20-25^ high with ascending branches, thin,scaly bark and almost straight spines. Leaves unequally pin-nate, leaflets 10 to 15. Flowers in rather dense axillary ra-cemes, rose colored. Fruit a dehiscent flat, leathery, lightbrown pod. New ^Mexico, Arizona.
