If youfollow it from this point you will wander by a goodsized Corsican pine on the right and a well grownKentucky coffee tree, on the same side, a little beyond.About opposite the Kentucky coffee tree is a beautifulbush of the bridal wreath spiraea (Spircea prunifolia)and almost at the point of intersection of this pathwith the Walk by the English oaks, spoken of above,stands an historic old black walnut Which, says oneof the Park reports, Is the only one left of a formergroup which occupied the high ground near ValleyGrove Road. Close by is the historic weeping willow(Salix Babylonica) above spoken of, which is also theonly one remaining of a former group. About oppo-site the black walnut, you will find on the right of theWalk, English walnut, distinguishable by its com-pound leaves of from five to nine leaflets which areindistinctly serrate. No. 100. 17 is crowned with a goodly company of conifers.Among them you will find the beautiful Himalayanor Bhotan pine with its soft and silvery tassels ofleaves, the handsome Cephalonian silver firs with theirstiff brush-like branches, the common white pines(Piiiiis sfrobiis) with their short slender needles andthe Norway spruces with their strong incurved leavesCome here when the wind sounds his orchestral music.Stand in this little grovt and listen. The harp, theviolin, the cello are all ringing with the melodies ofheaven. Elder grows here in great clumps, makingbeautiful sights in early summer with their cymesof white bloom. Here, too, the lovely Halls Japanhoneysuckle creeps and climbs and sets its fragrantflowers to the air, white changing slowly to yellow.The spot is a veritable little wood glen.
