osure, inwhich several rooms with vaulted roofs are built.The walls are constructed of broken stones, andstill stand some twelve feet or more in height.The entrance is flanked by round towers, andpassing through it one sees on the left a largetank, built of burnt bricks and cement, in whichthe water, brought from the well in the plain, wasstored. Just to the north of the station there arethe ruins of the animal lines, where rough stonewalls have been built on a well-ordered plan,forming a courtyard in which the stalls run inparallel rows. Above the enclosure, on the hill-top, there are some carefully constructed build-ings of sun-dried brick, which may have been theofficers quarters. Resting in the shade of theruins, ones eye wandered over the sun - burntdesert to the hazy hills beyond, and thence backalong the winding river-bed to the bushes at thefoot of the hill, where the camels lazily croppedthe dry twigs, and where green dragon - flieshovered against the intensely blue sky.
