Description
English: The panoramic photograph shows the first Australian convoy of World War I with Australian and New Zealand troopships at anchor in King George Sound, Western Australia, 31 October 1914. After numerous delays due to the presence of German raiders in the Pacific and Indian Oceans, the first troop convoy of World War I left Australia on 1 November 1914. This photograph originally sits within a wooden frame that bears a plaque reading: 'Transports with first Australian and New Zealand expeditionary forces, lying in King George's Sound, WA, October 31st, 1914'. The photograph is inscribed 'Copyright R.G. Sands Albany W.A'.
