Summary
[edit]DescriptionTrain at Connolly Station - (1) - geograph.org.uk - 3243474.jpg |
English: Train at Connolly Station - (1) Until the early 1980s, the former GNR(I) station had only four platforms which were mostly used for suburban trains to north Dublin. However, the No. 2 platform also saw arrival and departure of the cross-border “Enterprise” express service to/from Belfast. Built by BREL for the Hunslet Engine Co, Northern Ireland Railway’s three 101 class diesel locomotives operated this service from 1970 until displaced by more powerful locomotives in 1980. 102 “Falcon” stands in the No. 2 platform awaiting departure to Belfast, probably with the 11.00. 102 is preserved at the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum at Cultra outside Belfast. |
