Summary[edit]

Description
English: This is an older style of traffic detector. The wheels of the vehicle go over the treadle, which then makes the two metal plates inside contact each other, thus telling the traffic signal that a vehicle is at the intersection. The treadle is covered with rubber so that water does not get into it. Note: these can still be seen, as of December 2016, on Google Maps satellite view of this intersection.
