Description
English: Explanation about earthing.
  • Myth 1: Ground eats electricity.
  • -Not, it is not correct. Ground doesn't eat anything. By earthing, ground will have the same voltage, as metal parts of fault electrical installation. For example, 35000 Volts are leaking, but it is safe for human, cause fault pylon and ground have 35000 Volts on it and danger potential difference between fault installation and ground is missing.
  • Myth 2: All of installations should be connected with neutral wire to beat out fuse.
  • -Not obviously. Fuses on overhead powerlines are chosen such way to beat out in 15 seconds after short circuit (imagine transients on substations, that is why those fuses acting so slowly); but in high-voltage 15 seconds are enough to cause heart failure and death. Connecting of metal chasis with neutral wire can help in civil buildings to warn earlier about ground fault in applience. As for whole installation, neutral wire is not enough and main protection is supplied through earthing.
