Description
Deutsch: Schema zur bildlichen Darstellung von Tonleitern. Das Schema zeigt eine chromatische Tonleiter. Das unterste Kästchen stellt den Grundton dar. Die Kästchen darüber sind die Töne der Tonleiter, benannt nach ihrem Intervall zum Grundton. Die „Leiter“ ist also zickzackförmig zu lesen. Das oberste Kästchen stellt denselben Ton wie der Grundton dar, nur eine Oktave höher.

Man kann darin Halbtonschritte, Ganztonschritte und drei Halbtonschritte leicht erkennen. Wer durch diese Darstellung verwirrt wird, sollte sich den Sachverhalt als in einer Reihe aneinandergereihte Halbtöne verdeutlichen. Eine derartige Anordnung von Tönen (Darstellung um 90° gedreht) auf einer Tastatur ist in manchen sehr selten verwendeten Tastenanordnungen auch in Verwendung. Das Schema mag für manche nützlich sein, einfacher ist es jedoch, die 12 Stufen in einer Reihe oder mathematisch darzustellen.

Zur leichteren intuitiven Erfassung wurde dieses Diagramm (und alle abgeleiteten) durch Intervalle ergänzt und als SVG von Mjchael gespeichert
