English: The tomb of John Still (c. 1543 – 26 February 1607/8), the Bishop of Bath and Wells, along the east wall of Wells Cathedral, Wells, Somerset, England, UK, in the north transept leading into the Chapter House. Erected by Nathaniel Still, his son, the tomb bears the following Latin inscription:
On the upper part of the tomb are three escutcheons. From left to right they are: (1) azure, a saltire per saltire and per cross counter changed argent and Or (the coat of arms of the See of Wells); (2) the same, impaling the Still coat of arms; and (3) the Still coat of arms. |
